چکیده

Experimental evidences [1-5] indicate that orientation selectivity develops in the absence of visual experience. Here, we present a model for pre-eye opening development of orientation selectivity. The model essentially models layer IV cortical cells and confirms the poor orientation tuning observed in layer IV ceCls. We also show that post synaptic potential to spike transformation indeed plays an important role in establishing sharp tuning in cortical cells as suggested by some of the recent experimental results.

Direction-selective simple cells in cat striate cortex: A developmental model

A number of models have dealt with the receptive field (RF) properties of direction selective (DS) simple cells, but none address the question how do these RFs develop. Here we present a model for development of RFs for direction selective cortical cells based on the mechanism of diffusive cooperation and resource limited competition among the afferents converging on a cortical cell. Mean direc...

Multi-objective Modeling Based on Competition Airlines Cooperation by Game Theory and Sustainable Development Approach

In each time period, the demand of passengers for each route are finite and airlines compete for earning more profits. The complex competition among airlines causes problems, such as complicating flight planning and increasing empty seats for some routes. These problems increase air pollution and fuel consumption. To solve these problems, this research studies the cooperation of the airlines wi...

The resource-constraint project scheduling problem of the project subcontractors in a cooperative environment: Highway construction case study

Large-scale projects often have several activities which are performed by subcontractors with limited multi-resources. Project scheduling with limited resources is one of the most famous problems in the research operations and optimization cases. The resource-constraint project scheduling problem (RCPSP) is a NP-hard problem in which the activities of a project must be scheduled to reduce the p...

Cooperation and competition among frontal eye field neurons during visual target selection.

The role of spike rate versus timing codes in visual target selection is unclear. We simultaneously recorded activity from multiple frontal eye field neurons and asked whether they interacted to select targets from distractors during visual search. When both neurons in a pair selected the target and had overlapping receptive fields (RFs), they cooperated more than when one or neither neuron in ...

Optimal cell size for resource uptake in fluids: a new facet of resource competition.

Planktonic microorganisms are affected by various size-dependent processes both from the bottom up and from the top down. We developed a simple resource-consumer model to explore how size-dependent resource uptake and resource loss influence the growth of, and competition between, planktonic microorganisms. We considered three steps of resource uptake: diffusive transport of resource molecules,...
